I, like a million other people, dabbled in juicing for a few years. Then, like a million other people, I watched “Sick Fat and Nearly Dead”, a story of two men’s path towards health via juicing. It was inspiring. I loved it. I loved how food really is medicine.
I have never done a pure juice fast. Mostly I added one or two juices to my ‘regular diet’. Here’s what happened.
- my skin improved dramatically;
- my eyes lit up;
- my energy increased quite noticeably; and
- my diet started shifting. when you juice and you get that amazing feeling of nutrients flooding your body, you start to really notice the difference between that feeling and the feeling you get when you eat garbage.
When juicing, follow the 80/20 rule more or less. That is, 80% veggies and 20% fruit (you don’t actually have to use fruit but most like some sweetness).
Here’s my favorite Green Juice:
For 2 –
3 stalks celery
1 english cucumber
1″ piece ginger
2 green apples
handful of kale
one whole lemon (if not organic, peel)
optional: I add wheatgrass juice
